Action-Packed Week in Maltese Futsal – Six matches across Men’s and Women’s Leagues

It was another exciting week for Maltese futsal, with six matches played across the men’s and women’s divisions. The much-anticipated Men’s League clash between Luxol St Andrews and Futsal Selection U19 was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Men’s League

The University of Malta Students Futsal Team delivered a statement performance, defeating the Malta FA Futsal Selection U17 with an emphatic 13–0 victory. Colombian forward Cruz Guiterrez Roller Santiago and Argentine attacker Fernandez Cristian Jose were the standout performers, both netting four goals each in the dominant win.

Marsaskala Futsal Legends also impressed, registering a convincing 9–2 victory over debutants Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal. The winners raced to a 6–1 lead by halftime, with Karl Luke Schembri scoring four times to lead his team to their first win of the campaign.

In another high-scoring encounter, GŻR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal overpowered Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA with an 11–2 win. Colombian star Diaz Montanez Cristian Camilo was the standout player, finding the net four times for the victorious side.

Women’s League

The Women’s Futsal League also kicked off this week, delivering plenty of action and goals. St George’s Futsal made an impressive start with a 9–1 triumph over Parr Mela Rockets Futsal. Venezuelan striker Estefany Colemnarez stole the show with four goals for the Cottonera side. During the match, Paula Perdomo of Parr Mela was sent off following a disciplinary incident.

Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus claimed a hard-fought 2–0 victory over Swieqi United Futsal LECO7, with the match decided by halftime. The opening goal came through an own goal by Spiteri, before Rodanne Azzopardi doubled the lead a few minutes later.

Last season’s Knock-Out champions, Zero Sei Futsal, began their campaign in style with a 5–0 win over St Andrews Futsal. They took early control and were already 3–0 ahead at halftime, with five different players getting on the scoresheet.

Luxol St Andrews Set for UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round

Attention now turns to Luxol St Andrews, who will represent Malta in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round – Group 3. All matches will be played at the University Sports Hall in Gżira, with free entry for fans.

Luxol open their campaign on October 29, 2025, against Riga Futsal Club at 19:00, followed by a meeting with Loznica Grad on October 30 at the same time. Their final and toughest fixture comes on November 1, when they face European giants Benfica.

Other group fixtures include:

  • Benfica vs Loznica Grad – October 29, 16:30

  • Riga vs Benfica – October 30, 16:30

  • Loznica Grad vs Riga – November 1, 16:30

This marks a special opportunity for local supporters to witness top-level European futsal and cheer on Malta’s champions in their continental campaign.
